Chiropractic
Low force joint manipulation and soft tissue techniques focused on improving nervous system health and whole body biomechanics.
Dr. Rachel Knight D.C.
Dr. Rachel is a chiropractor with a primary focus on soft tissue health, functional movement, and applied neurology. While chiropractic care is one of the tools used in her practice, her work is best described as a low-force, movement-based approach designed to help patients understand why their bodies are not functioning optimally—not simply where they hurt.
Her clinical philosophy centers on identifying root causes rather than treating symptoms alone. Rather than focusing solely on pain or restricted range of motion, Dr. Rachel evaluates how the body moves as a whole, how the nervous system influences that movement, and how soft tissues adapt or compensate over time. This allows care to be highly individualized, precise, and appropriate for patients seeking gentle yet effective treatment options, including athletes and those living with chronic pain.
Dr. Rachel began studying soft tissue manipulation early, learning sports massage and fascial techniques while still in high school under the mentorship of a practitioner who played a pivotal role in her recovery from athletic injuries. A lifelong athlete, she has participated in gymnastics, wrestling, and soccer, and later expanded into rock climbing, kayaking, backpacking, and hiking. A traumatic brain injury during college ended her wrestling career and significantly shaped her clinical perspective, deepening her commitment to understanding how the body heals from complex and challenging starting points.
She earned her undergraduate degree from Southern Oregon University, where she studied human biology and kinesiology, before completing her Doctor of Chiropractic degree at the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon, in 2012. Dr. Rachel has worked with and studied the human body for more than 25 years.
Her postgraduate training includes applied neurology, full-body Active Release Technique (ART), instrument-assisted soft tissue manipulation (including Graston Technique), myofascial decompression, CranioSacral Therapy, and Acoustic Compression Therapy (also known as extracorporeal shock wave therapy), which she began using clinically in 2013. These approaches are integrated with movement assessment, exercise prescription, and patient education to support tissue healing and long-term resilience.
Dr. Rachel approaches patient care as a collaborative process, taking time to understand each individual’s experience in their body and tailoring treatment accordingly. Movement modification, soft tissue optimization, and exercise as medicine are often the foundation of care.
A committed lifelong learner, Dr. Rachel regularly studies emerging research and clinical perspectives across healthcare disciplines. She feels grateful to practice in Ashland, Oregon, a community known for its collaborative and integrative approach to healing.
